Peptic digest of animal tissue .............................3.5g
Beef extract.........................................................3.0g
Sodium deoxycholate..........................................2.5g
Neutral Red.......................................................0.03g
pH 7.2 ± 0.1 at 25°C

Preparation of Medium: Add components to dis
tilled/deionized water and bring volume to 1.0L. Mix
thoroughly. Gently heat while stirring and bring to boil
ing. Do not overheat. Do not autoclave. Pour into sterile
Petri dishes in 20.0mL volumes.
Use: For the selective isolation of Salmonella spe
cies, Shigella species, and Vibrio species.
